Dr. Lucy M. Guglielmino developed the Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale ( SDLRS) in 1978 to measure the complex of attitudes, abilities and characteristics which comprise readiness to engage in self-directed learning.
The Guglielmino SDLRS has been used by more than 500 major organizations from around the world. More than 300,000 adults and 10,000 children have taken the Guglielmino SDLRS. It is the most widely used instrument of its kind in the world and it has been translated into more than 20 languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Arabic, Polish, Russian, Finnish and Lithuanian. The Guglielmino SDLRS has an extensive bibliography of research. The Bibliography of Research contains research citations by author, title, publication and year. More than 100 doctoral dissertations have been completed from Universities throughout the world using the Guglielmino SDLRS.
